New Faculty Position Available

The University of Nevada, Reno, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering, starting July 1, 2010. Outstanding applicants with expertise in all areas of chemical engineering are welcome, especially those with expertise related to renewable energy.

Duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and establishing an active, independent, and innovative funded research program in Chemical Engineering. The candidate will be required to interact with federal and state agencies as well as private industry to develop research programs. The Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering department currently has an active research program with $7.5 million in externally funded research.

The University of Nevada, Reno is the land-grant institution for the State of Nevada with an enrollment of 17,000 students. Our program offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering. The department has a total of 9 full-time tenure track faculty members.

Nestled in the valley of the Truckee River on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, Reno offers an excellent quality of life. The region combines a mild high desert climate with a large variety of nearby recreational opportunities. Lake Tahoe is less than an hour away by car, while Yosemite National Park and the Black Rock Desert are both within a three-hour drive. Featuring a multi-seasonal tourist industry, Reno also offers entertainment and cultural opportunities far in excess of those typically found in a city of 400,000.
